1st day at work...

And it sucks... In my opinion, that is... According to my friend, Alyssa, first days are the best - not much work, and slacking all around. Ha! My first day of work and I found out my supervisor has yet to requisition a desk for me. So I end up sharing a desk with my ex-classmate, Roy. if not for the (rather) high wages that will definitely help in my goal to save 6k, I think I would have quitted on the spot.

It started off well enough, really. I got a de-briefing at the HR department and then headed over to find my supervisor only to find he's in a class. This results in my impromptu joining the class to guide the kids in their first Basic Microbiology lab class. And the objective of the class is?

To learn how to focus microscopes... Thank God my microscope focusing skills is something I'm confident in.

It was in the afternoon that things went downhill. I remember the meeting with my supervisor - Mr L. We had taken seats in the small meeting room in Applied Science Research Center AKA AS4. He had promptly informed me he still had not requisitioned a table for me. What the hell?

" Also, I need you to order blah blah blah and please also get the quotations for the following equipments....."

O.o What & what & WHAT? His explanation was SO not clear and left me thanking god he was not my tutor in my 3 years in TP. That, & feeling about to cry because I have absolutely NO idea what he was talking about.

In the end, I had to kinda wrangle around to get the quotations. Alyssa seemed to have become a pro TSO in her month here. Thank god I'm only here for 2 months. Yup, my contract ends june because "I'm going backpacking to Thailand in July". Mr L doesn't know that this plan was scrapped and I neglected to tell him.

In addition, Mr L seemed to hope (pray) that I can't get into NTU so that I can continue as an TSO. It was in his words.

" So L, this is?"

" My new TSO, Hui-Peng."

"Hi." (Need I tell you who said it? You guys are smart enough right?)

"Hi, Hui-Peng. Working here till end June too, right?"

"Yeah, her contract ends end june. Though she said she may be extending her contract ."

O.O? DID I SAY THAT?! I certainly don't remember saying that. My brain has a strange mental condition in that I have a tendency to forgot what I've said and remember what I did NOT say. Well then, maybe I should NEGLECT to inform him that my application to NTU just got denied.

Oh yeah, My application to NTU got denied. Now you guys know too, eh?

P.S: TSO = Technical Support Officer. We do shit that the researchers don't wanna do.
