Post King's Birthday

I wanna blog straight yesterday but I was too tired to do anything but shower and then sleep. Yesterday evening, I went to the Grand Palace to watch the procession of the King, together with my friends, Cheryl & gang, and some of their colleagues. We walked from a market near my dorm to the Grand palace. Upon reaching, we wandered a while waiting for the procession to start but nope, nothing happened. In the end, Evelyn's supervisor asked a nearby militant and turns out the procession had already left. Damn.

We stayed to watch the fireworks but in my opinion, it wasn't as fantastic as the one I saw outside my balcony. Maybe the fascination had already wore off, or maybe, it's because there's too many people blocking my view. But yeah, it was still better than Singapore's, though.

We walked back to Victory Monument, again. That's like, Walking from Hougang to Clementi and back to Hougang again. In total, we walked about 7 hrs straight. And I thought I wouldn't be able to get enough exercise her in Thailand. -_-

Of course, Walking back wasn't as easy as it sounds. First of all, there are millions of people, congregating together. The entire place resemble an army of yellow ants, with a few other colored ones. It makes Bugis Junction look like a ghost town. The resulting traffic jam (of both humans and vehicles) makes those that occur during NDP look like a piece of cake.

We end up having to squeeze through tons of people. I lost count of how many times my feet was stepped on. Thank god I was wearing sports shoes. It even come to the point where we (me, my friends and my friends' colleagues) had to climb up a podium to see where each other was. That podium was reserved for a guy who was conducting an auction (I'm not very sure, he was speaking Thai) Luckily, the back of the podium leads to the back entrance of a hotel and we escaped the crowd (Can it even be called a crowd? It's like a gross understatement).

Still, we managed to leave behind the jam packed grand palace and by the time I get back, I was ready to lay down and die. but no, I have work tomorrow. Shit.

P.S: In case Anyone was wondering why on earth are we walking so far, 2 words: Traffic Jam. *Coughcommonsensecough*
