OhYEAH! It's gonna be the new year here! Already, I have received 3 presents and 1 new year card. ^^ So I was in a pretty good mood. In addition, I think i managed to clear the viral infection in my lappie (At least I think I did, I'm a technophobe!) and my Major Project is close to being done (Once again, It's a case of I THINK). I mean, I finished the 1st part, and hopefully, the 3rd part. But if all goes well, I'll finish the 2nd part tomorrow. Just in time before my family comes to Bangkok for New Year. Whee!
But my good mood vanish the moment I found out what I had to do after finishing my experiments. MP REPORT! Who in the Bloody name of Sephiroth invented reports? They should be shot to hell and get eviscerated there. Damn! I had to do a report that's somewhat like Addie's thesis. For your information, Addie's thesis is thicker than the encyclopedia I had back home. No wonder Tou and Am started on their report so early (about 2-3weeks ago). God help me...
In addition, I had to submit the report on 21st Jan to the higher-ups at BIOTEC. 21st! That means I had barely less then 3 weeks to start it. T_T
Forgive the lack of content, but i have absolutely no idea what to blog about. Just had a feeling to blog, that's all. The pace in lab has slowed down A LOT. Everybody is in a holiday mood and it kinda influenced me. Oh yeah, I mentioned that I would give more information about my trip to SriChang Isle in Chonburi.
Chonburi is a province that's about 2 hrs journey from Bangkok. I went there twice. Once to the Burapha University there to collect samples ( on my 2nd and 3rd day in Bangkok), Once to Srichang isle. Srichang isle is almost unknown to us tourists but to the local, It's a pretty famous spot due to it playing an important role in Thai History.
For once, The famous Vimanmek palace (largest teakwood palace) used to be located here before it was ordered by the (then) king Chulalongkorn to be dismantled rebuilt in its present location in Bangkok in 1901. The remains of the palace are still preserved in Srichang isle.
In addition, Due to its fresh air and wholesome atmosphere, royalties and foreign dignitaries often rest here in the past. Here are some pictures:
A temple that I found worshipping Guan Yin (Goddes of Mercy). I was initially surprised. But my supervisor explained to me that when the chinese came here. They build the temple as thanks to the goddess for blessing them with a safe journey.
Part of the small town of Srichang Island. I couldnt manage to take the full picture. -_-
The above is a Phongsi Building. There are many such buildings scattered around and it's used to foreign dignitaries and royalties to rest when they're here in Thailand.
A famous pond in SriChang island. According to my supervisor, Its the main water catchment area in the island in the past.
A shrine dedicated to King Chulalongkorn. For anybody interested to know, his Dad (Mongkut) was the famous emperor of Siam in "Anna & the King".
The air in SriChang island was really fresh and the atmosphere really relaxed. I would have loved the island if not for the fact that the whole place seems infested with Giant Millipedes. Throughout my trip, I saw a total of about 16. -_-lll My god... They are like 30cm long and 1 cm thick. Ever been to Insect Park in Sentosa? They have a small tank dedicated to giant millipedes but even then they can't be compared to their prehistoric big bros here in SriChang Island. My supervisor explained that their presence here means that the soil is good in SriChang island and that they are also known as "Earth Shrimp". -_-lll
I think i will settle for just liking the island. Too many giant millipedes for my liking. I've even got nightmares about them... So yeah... See ya guys around... ^^
