MTV VMA Fiasco: Kanye West And Taylor Swift

I saw this piece of news a few days ago and I'm sure all of you knew about it by now. I know my blog entry probably came in too late but i was too busy and hey, it's my blog... I update as and when i want, damnnit!

I'm sure everyone of you knows what's going on but for those who doesn't, Here's a link for background info: Rolling Stones magazine: Kanye West Storms the VMAs Stage During Taylor Swift's Speech.

First and foremost, my sympathies for Taylor Swift. Whether a person is talented or not, she does not deserve to have that treatment in front of everyone. Kanye West's definitely in the wrong for taking away one of her best moments in her life and giving her hellish memories in return.

I know he has apologised to Taylor Swift for what he has done but the deed had already been done. Truthfully, I fail to see how his mother's death can cause him to do what he just did. Those are 2 separate issues. Does anyone beside me smell an excuse here? He's 32 years old. You would have thought he would be more restrained?

Nevertheless, it seems like West has been criticised, and rightfully so, by a lot of people. President Obama, included.

At least, Kanye West called Taylor Swift to apologise 2 days after the whole incident.

If she can accept it, why not me?

So, I'll keep quiet about my thoughts on this incident but I'll say this: It seems like Kanye West has got to learn more self restraint. I've done a little research and apparently, this is not the first time he lost control.

In 2006, when he failed to win the Best Video at MTV awards, he actually went upstage and argued that he should have won. Good gracious, he did it in public. Won't he feel embarrassed? He has apologised for this incident. But i made my point, eh? The whole fiasco with Taylor Swift this year is not the first time.

There are also cases which shows he's also racist. Or rather, he felt he was being biased against because of his "skin color". Now i have no idea what racism in USA is like so regarding this,i will have no comments. I'll just give a little information about what i've gathered.

In 2005, during a benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina relief, Kanye West was a featured speaker and he made a remark about George Bush (then President of USA) that, i shall quote here, "He doesn't care about black people."

In 2007, He felt he was being overlooked in favour of Britney Spears for opening the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards and he said this: "Maybe my skin's not right."

... Did I make my point?

For more information, do some research! I'll be nice and give you some starters: Taylor Swift; Kanye West; Wikipedia. I retrieved most of my information there. Therefore, they don't belong to me. They belong to whoever was being cited in Wikipedia. There! Disclaimer done.
