Rest In Peace, Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson passed away on 25th June 2009. I can't believe it when i heard the news from my colleagues. I still can't believe it now.

Michael Jackson was the first music artist i listened to, since i was old enough to distinguish noise from music. I remember my cousins & I used to boogie away to his music every Wednesday night after dinner, when our family gathered together and we would turn my bedroom into a disco hall.

We would close the windows and door, switch on the air con, let down the curtains and turn on some torchlights covered with colored cellophane. And then we would dance away to "Black or white", "Beat it" and "Smooth criminal" until it was late and we have to go home.

I guess you can say his music instilled a love for pop music (not that i have any rhythm) in me. Well, he instilled that in everyone. In addition, He revolutionized the music industry in many ways, some of which includes inspiring acts such as Prince.

As expected of the King of Pop. And Let's not forget he invented the Moonwalk.

Sad to say, as time passes and i grew up, I drifted away from his music. My taste in music had begun to run towards rock.

Now, as i hear his death reported in the Channel News Asia, I can't help but feel a sense of heartache for the loss of the man who introduced music to me.

Rest In Peace, Michael Jackson.
