Of Dogs & Deaths

Haiz… Yesterday, while reading news online, I came across one article stating that MC King has passed away. I was surprised because he’s not exactly that old (he’s only 40). He’s a comedian in the local Chinese media circles so I don’t really remember him (I seldom watch TV, let alone local Chinese drama). I mean, I do have vague impressions about him because he used to act in Comedy Action (?? Gao Xiao Xing Dong, dunno watsit called in English, mine is a direct translation) that I watch when I was really young. I have to search online for his photos to remember who he is, though.

I don’t really know what’s the cause of his death but apparently, its heart attack. Well, my condolences to his family. I understand the loss of a loved one.

And on 2/1/08, The King’s sister passed away in the hospital at the age of 84. So right now, Bangkok is in a state of mourning. Everybody can be seen wearing Black and white. It’s not compulsory, so one can occasionally see colored shirts like tiny pin pricks among a sea of black and white. Very few though, like, 1 in 1000?

Right now, the LLtK (Long Live the King shirts: with the King’s symbol + other designs) came out in black and white version as well. FYI, they are worn in support of the King. Hence, the King’s symbol is compulsory on these shirts. Previously, there’s only yellow, pink, green, blue, orange, red and violet.

Last year, yellow was the fashion because yellow represents Monday which is the day the King was born. Pink was the fashion this year (which is why my landlady bought me a pink one -_- ) until the Princess’ passing. Pink was supposed to bless the King because when he recovered and was discharged from the hospital, he was wearing a pink suit. -_- Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, “In the pink of health!”

And in December last year, my grandma passed away. Yeah, it’s still a sore subject.

Seems like recently, so many deaths has been occurring. Sure, deaths occur everyday, but still… haiz…

Enough about deaths! Let’s change the subject… Sorry about being so random… ><>

Dogs here in Thailand lives a better life than even humans in Singapore. I’m serious. Reasons:

1) They can sleep anywhere they want w/o disturbances. I once encountered “traffic jam” on a sidewalk and was wondering what had happened. Did someone faint or something? Turns out a dog was sleeping in the middle of the walkway and to avoid disturbing it, everybody was squeezing around it. -_-

2) They get fed. Evidence 1: I saw a Thai buying BBQ meat for the dog, which was sleeping. She was waving it under its nose and the damn dog took its time in waking up and eating it, like WE are supposed to buy food for it. Evidence 2: I saw a street dog that was so damn fat it looks like 2 plump pillow tied together on 4 chopsticks. And NO, it’s not pregnant because it’s a male.

3) They wont get caught by TPCA (Thai version of SPCA), if there is such an organization in the 1st place. Hence, they don’t have to worry about survival AT ALL.

Damn, they get to eat, sleep and play all day long. Humans, on the other hand, have to WORK to get the above 2. Aren’t they (dogs) having a good life? Make you wanna be a Thai dog heh?

Dang! Report and powerpoint due in 2 weeks and I’m blogging. ><>
