Feeling stressed? Take a Bike!

No updates for the past few days... Can't be helped. My prediction on Monday about this week being a sucky week came true. Well, not exactly sucky. Just too busy... Today was no different... A bunch of bacholer students from Chulalongkorn University came and toured the lab and I was required (SABO-ed by Oneesan. >:( ) by my boss to give a short run through about my project. Of course, i was introduced as "This is Lim, a student from Singapore. She is about the same age as you (I'm slightly younger, actually)." Way to go boss. Nice way to introduce me as a foreigner. Really, It could be worse (I'm not being sarcastic, honest).

In any case, Today was one hell of a stressful day. The highlight of today came after I knock off work. Dew, Tew and Fai had to go to Ano Sawari (Victory Monument) An I accompanied them. Now in Thailand, there are 3 types of taxi - the normal car taxi, the famous "Tuk Tuk" and the less known Motorbike Taxi. The motorbike taxi, like its namesake, allows only one passenger. But in Thailand, you can see up to 3 passengers and 1 pet. yep, a pet. I've grown used to the sight of a dog balancing perfectly on the passenger seat of a bike while the driver (its owner, i think) navigates the bike in and out of the traffic. O.O You never see this happen in Singapore.

Anyway, I have taken the motorbike taxi once and I had enjoyed the mediocrely fast ride. This time, however, it just takes the cake. Dew had taken the first motorbike and left first. A while later, another motorbike revved up and I took it. Immediately after I sat on it, the bike zoomed off - literally. I barely had time to hold on to the seat. The driver swerved left and right and even come close to beating the red light. I was trying my hardest not to "woodpecker" him when he suddenly slowed and not to fall off when he suddenly sped up. We even managed to overtake Dew's motorbike. At least, I think we did. The bike was going too fast for me to see clearly. ><

In Singapore, this driver would have been one of the top 10 wanted for breaking speed limit - and he won't get caught. The fact that we didn't get into an accident can attest to his driving (riding?) skills. I wasn't afraid. The adrenaline rush was awesome. You ever taken a ride on a rollercoaster? The adrenaline rush I had from the motorbike ride is akin to that but much more concentrated. Serious. When I got off his bike, I was grinning like an idiot a
s I paid. After a while,my colleagues arrived. Dew arrived 2nd (I was first! ^^), despite her being the first to leave (So I was right, We did overtake her!). Tew arrived 3rd and Fai arrived 4th.

Anyway, I had to walk back from Ano Sawari to my dorm. On the way back, I suddenly realized how much more relaxed I was compared to before I took the Motorbike Taxi. Great way to relieve stress, heh?

Anyway, Here is A picture. Not of the motorbike ride, obviously! I was barely able to hang on to the bike with both my hands and legs. The pic shows me and the 2M duo. 2 (Tou/Do) is the guy and M (Am)
is the female.
