My 1st Official Off Day~!

As what my title stated, today is my first official Leave from Work, not counting the Sick Leave I had. The reason why i took it is to accompany my mum to the hospital and to get our new passports (She's accompanying me, she claims).

When mum finished her check-up, we headed over to the Central at Clarke Quay to have a late lunch at Kyomomoyama Restaurant. The ambience there was good, but damn, the food seems to have been shipped from Japan or something. It took so damn long! Mum and I waited for almost 45 mins before our food arrived. Are they catching the fish from the Singapore River or something? And waiting for the chicken to lay the egg for our chawanmushi?

Nevertheless, the service there was above average. They reassured us time and again our order is on the way and made efforts to check on our orders with the kitchen. It was only later when we finally received our orders that they explained to us that the kitchen is short handed. Oh~~

Kudos for the efforts they had put in. For that, I'll rate the service above average for all the efforts they out in (though mum's grumbling might have spurred them on abit). But i'll rate their handling skills (of the crockery) poor. One broke 2 cups during the time i was there.

Anyway, the food was pretty much good, though small in proportions compared to other japanese restaurants. Saba was well done - nicely grilled with tender and juicy meat but crispy skin. Chawanmushi was not bad and the rice was not in hard chunky bits but firm overall. 8.0/10!

After lunch, We headed over to the ICA (Singaporeans, don't claim you don't know) to get our passports and over on to Illuma, the new mall opposite Bugis Junction. Gosh, that place stank of new plaster and whitewash. Plenty of stalls are not open yet but i spotted a few promising ads: Japanese Food Amusement Park (Yum!), Desert Cafe (YESH!), etc.

One thing i noticed recently, there's been a japanese food culture boom here in Singapore. Lots of japanese food restaurants are setting up stalls here. Of course i don't mind the extra choices, given I'm a jap food lover but still, one has to wonder right? After all, if i remember correctly, isn't the korean culture and the taiwanese culture the IN thing right now?

Here's some photos I've taken with my new w910i 2.0MP hand phone. Now, techies be quiet, i know it's an old phone by now but hey, it's free and i like it so shut the hell up!

Onwards:

Inside Kyomomoyama Restaurant. Nice lightings with a warm ambience. We went there at lunch time though.

Mum's Sashimi Set.

My Saba Shioyaki Set. Say Cheese, Fishie!

What you do when your mum's in the toilet for eternity...

Yeah, Yeah... I know the shots aren't that good. Blame my non-existent photography skills and 2.0MP camera. I I think the crysanthemum are pretty well taken, though. Below: a bonus. XD
